Traverse Day Robinette was born and raised in the southwest of the United States. Most of Traverse's childhood was spent playing in dry ditches in the countryside of Texas awaiting rain to bring out crawdads which captivated him for hours. Little did the crustaceans know he daydreamed of becoming a fish.

In later years he found himself on the East Coast discovering seasons and the labyrinths of woods who quickly became his friends. He received his BFA in Photography from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2009.

Traverse makes photographic journals of the places he explores. He tells stories, some made up, some autobiographical. He likes to write poetry or short stories to accompany his photography. He is interested in quiet places and of things that are not thought of as important or grand. He focuses on small details, layers, shapes, and abstracts in nature. His projects revolve around his personal interactions with the environment and the people in his life.
